Samantha Fox

You want Cockney? - I give you Cockney..! As the eldest daughter in a family of East End market traders, Samantha Karen 'Sam' Fox, was born on 15 April 1966 in Mile End, London. How much more English can you get?
She attended St. Thomas More RC School in Haringey, North London, where she and had a keen interest in the theatre from an early age. Sam first appeared on a theatre stage at the age of 3, and was enrolled in the Anna Scher Theatre School from the age of 5. Her first TV appearance came at the age of 10, in the BBC play No Way Out. Interested in music, Sam formed her first band at the age of 14. And get his - her first record deal came a year later, with Lamborghini Records! But both her theatre and music careers went on hold when her modelling career took off - quite literally... :
In early 1983, her mother photographed a 16-year-old Sam in lingerie and submitted several pictures to The Sunday People newspaper's 'Face and Shape of 1983' amateur modeling contest. Samantha came joint runner-up in the contest, had her pictures published and was soon after invited for a test shoot for The Sun newspaper's Page 3 feature.

Her parents gave their consent for their daughter to pose topless and - on Tuesday, 22 February 1983 - Samantha's first Page 3 photograph was published under the headline 'Sam, 16, Quits A-Levels for Ooh-Levels'.
Sam's cockney background, bubbly-blonde looks, winning smile, and 36-D boobs made her an enormously popular Page 3 model. After famously insuring her tits for £250,000 (a small fortune back then), she won The Sun's Page 3 Girl of the Year award for three consecutive years between 1984 & 1986. She posed naked for several British men's magazines, but very few full-frontal shots were ever published. Sam retired from Page Three modelling in 1986 - at the age of 20. Boobs, champagne, car-dealership openings, swimwear catalogues, her own winebar and clothes business, a string of no-good boyfriends, and then the realisation that her father, who had managed her from the off, had been fleecing her for all she was worth, which turned out to be not very much at all.

In the late 80s, Sam began a singing career on Jive Records, producing 3 albums in as many years and working with Stock Aitken Waterman. Everything they touched turned to gold back then. She released her debut single 'Touch Me' when she was 19 years old, in March 1986. A string of successful tracks led her through the years until 1992.

In 1999, rumours of her being lesbian started to make the rounds, and - admirably - Sam came out. She said that part of her reluctance to come out was due to fears of how some of her fans might react to her being in relationship with a woman, as she had already had to deal with obsessed fans and stalkers. At 14, she was madly in love with Lindsey Wagner, the Bionic Woman, but it wasn't until she was 26 that she finally accepted that she was lesbian. Sam now lives with her partner Myra Stratton in Chigwell, Essex.
