Lyrics:
I'm tryna put you in the worst mood, ah
P1 cleaner than your church shoes, ah
Milli point two just to hurt you, ah
All red Lamb’ just to tease you, ah
None of these toys on lease too, ah
Made your whole year in a week too, yah
Main bitch out your league too, ah
Side bitch out of your league too, ah
House so empty, need a centerpiece
Twenty racks a table cut from ebony
Cut that ivory into skinny pieces
Then she clean it with her face man I love my baby
You talking money, need a hearing aid
You talking 'bout me, I don't see a shade
Switch up my style, I take any lane
I switch up my cup, I kill any pain
Look what you've done
I’m a motherfuckin' starboy
Look what you've done
I'm a motherfuckin' starboy
Every day a nigga try to test me, ah
Every day a nigga try to end me, ah
Pull off in that Roadster SV, ah
Pockets overweight, gettin' hefty, ah
Coming for the king, that's a far cry, ah
I come alive in the fall time, I
No competition, I don't really listen
I’m in the blue Mulsanne bumping New Edition
House so empty, need a centerpiece
Twenty racks a table cut from ebony
Cut that ivory into skinny pieces
Then she clean it with her face man I love my baby
You talking money, need a hearing aid
You talking 'bout me, I don’t see a shade
Switch up my style, I take any lane
I switch up my cup, I kill any pain
Look what you've done
I’m a motherfuckin' starboy
Look what you've done
I'm a motherfuckin’ starboy
Let a nigga Brad Pitt
Legend of the fall took the year like a bandit
Bought mama a crib and a brand new wagon
Now she hit the grocery shop looking lavish
Star Trek roof in that Wrath of Khan
Girls get loose when they hear this song
100 on the dash get me close to God
We don't pray for love, we just pray for cars
House so empty, need a centerpiece
Twenty racks a table cut from ebony
Cut that ivory into skinny pieces
Then she clean it with her face man I love my baby
You talking money, need a hearing aid
You talking 'bout me, I don't see a shade
Switch up my style, I take any lane
I switch up my cup, I kill any pain
Look what you've done
I'm a motherfuckin' starboy
Look what you've done
I'm a motherfuckin' starboy

I will die before Methusalah
So I'll fight sleep with Ammonia
And every morning with eyes all red
I'll miss them for all the tears they shed
But I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I miss prosthesis and mended souls
Trample over beauty while singing their thoughts
I match them with my euphoria
When they said "Je suis plus folle que toi"
But I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I'm doing my face
With magic marker
I'm in my right place
Don't be a downer
I'm doing my face
With magic marker
I'm in my right place
Don't be a downer
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted
I'm actually good
Can't help it if we're tilted

Lyrics:
It s everywehere i look
Fromage l'as Vegas to Richter hère
Under your dresser
Right by you ear
It s creeping In sweetly
It s definitely here
There s nothing more deadly
Than slow growing fear
Life was full and fruitful
And you could a take a real bite
The juive Well over
You skins delight
But the shadow it grows
And take the depth away
Leaving broken down pieces
To this pricipless ballet
The shallower it grows
The fainter we go
Did we build all those bridges
To watch them voluntarily
Of constant trust
The clock is ticking its last couple of tocks
And there won't be a party with weathering frocks

Lyrics - incl. English translation:
M'extraire du cadre
Ma vie suspendue
Je rêvais mieux
Je voyais l'âtre
Tous ces inconnus
Toi parmi eux
Extracting myself from the frame
My life, suspended
I dreamt of better.
I saw the hearth
All those unknowns,
You among them
Toile,
Fibre qui suinte
Des meurtrissures
Tu voyais l'âme
Mais j'ai vu ta main
Choisir Gauguin
Canvas,
Fibre that oozes
Bruises
You saw the soul,
But I saw your hand
Choosing Gaugin
Et je te rends ton amour
Redeviens les contours
Je te rends ton amour
C'est mon dernier recours
Je te rends ton amour
Au moins pour toujours
Redeviens les contours
" la femme nue debout "
And I return your love,
Become once more the contours,
I return your love
It's my last resort
I return your love
At least, forever
Become once more the contours
"The naked woman standing"
M'extraire du cadre
La vie étriquée
D'une écorchée
J'ai cru la fable
D'un mortel aimé
Tu m'as trompé
Extracting myself from the frame,
The skewed life
Of a butchered woman
I believed the fable,
Of a beloved mortal
[But] you betrayed me
Toi
Tu m'as laissé
Me compromettre
Je serai " l'Unique "
Pour des milliers d'yeux
Un nu de maître
You,
You allowed me
To compromise myself.
I will be the "unique"
For thousands of eyes
A master's nude
Et je te rends ton amour
Au moins pour toujours
Je te rends ton amour
Le miens est trop lourd
Et je te rends ton amour
C'est plus flagrant le jour
Ses couleurs se sont diluées
Et je reprends mon amour
Redeviens le contour
De mon seul maître : EGON SHIELE et...

Daft Punk - Burnin' (1997)
Frenchmen Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter are Daft Punk, whom reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synth-pop.
Both met in 1987 while attending the Lycée Carnot, a secondary school in Paris. The two became good friends and later recorded demo tracks with others from the school. This eventually led them to form their first (guitar-based) group Darlin' in 1992. But the band failed to impress critics, resulting in Melody Maker (now NME), a UK music must-have at the time, calling them 'a bunch of daft punk'. Guy and Thomas were actually delighted by the review, famously stating that it took them forever to come up with the name Darlin', but Daft Punk just happened. Sure enough, Darlin' soon split and the duo re-formed as said, experimenting with synthesizers.
In 1997 they released their critically acclaimed album Homework, which includes my favourite single Burnin', an instrumental house music track.
The music video for Burnin' pays tribute to Chicago house producers that Daft Punk found inspiration in. The party scene in the video features DJ Sneak, Roger Sanchez, Derrick Carter, Roy Davis Jr., Paul Johnson, Robert Armani and DJ Hyperactive. Thomas and Guy also make brief appearances people at the party.

David Vendetta ft. Akram - Unidos Para La Musica (2007)
David Paparusso, a.k.a David Vendetta, started his career as DJ at Paris-based Radio FG 98.2. *** (see below)
Both, the station and the DJ caught my ears during my first visits to the French metropolis back in 1993/94. Here he met Antoine Clamaran. Both soon started producing tracks together and his popularity rocketed. As reputation in the DJ scene goes, the word soon got round to Roger Sanchez, for whom he also remixed.
My favourite song of his is 'Unidos Para La Musica', part of his 2007 album 'Rendez-Vous'. Vocals come courtesy of Akram.

Patrick Hernandez - Born To Be Alive (1979)
Patrick Hernandez was born 1949 in Le Blanc-Mesnil, France, to a Spanish father and a half-Austrian/half-Italian mother. Growing up in the 1960s, he became interested in music. He toured dancehalls and ballrooms of southern France with a number of groups over the next decade. Patrick met his music partner Hervé Tholance, an arranger, guitarist & vocalist, during that period. The two formed a duo and started achieving local success backing French musicians such as Francis Cabrel, Laurent Voulzy, and the French group Gold.
In 1978, Patrick met producer Jean Vanloo and, with disco music at its peak, signed a recording contract. Hernandez went to Waterloo, Belgium to work on songs to record. After working for about a year, an album was released November that year.
The first single that was released was the disco song Born to Be Alive. Its success was immediate: the track spread throughout Europe, where it hit #1 in France in April 1979 and remained there until July. By then, the US had caught on, and after some remixing, the track was released, peaking at #1 in the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and crossed over to US#16, selling over one million copies in the US alone.
By year's end, Born To Be Alive had racked up 52 Gold and Platinum from more than 50 countries worldwide.
While touring the US, Patrick was accompanied by Vanloo and his friend Jean-Claude Pellerin. Vanloo and Pellerin held auditions in New York that spring for dancers to accompany him on his worldwide tour. The chosen dancers included a young Madonna.
Patrick's follow-ups to Born to Be Alive did not fare as well.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Hernandez toured and had occasional appearances on other artists' albums in Europe. Another remix of the track appeared in the nightclubs in 1987. Since its release, Born to Be Alive has sold more than $25 million worldwide.

We were born to be alive
We were born to be alive
Born, born to be alive
(Won't you be alive)
You see you were born
Born, born
(Born to be alive)
People ask me why
I never find a place to stop
And settle down, down, down
But I never wanted all those things
People need to justify
Their lives, lives, lives
You see you were
Born, born, born to be alive
(Born to be alive)
You see you were
Born, born, born
(Born to be alive)
It's good to be alive
To be alive
To be alive
It's good to be alive
To be alive
To be alive
It's good to be alive
Time was on my side
When I was running down the street
It was so fine, fine, fine
A suitcase and an old guitar
And something new to occupy
My mind, mind, mind
You see you were born, born
Born to be alive
(Born to be alive)
You see you were born, born, born

T'as l'attitude sur ton 31 sud
English Translation:
I like your hair which flies into the air
Under the acropolis
The wind blows feelings over us
Feelings that come and go
Colours of the night, you have come
Which is unusual here
You must know all about standing up for yourself
How to lose yourself for good
See how the spine takes shape from the horizon
Go high and I will make the Bermudas
Aficionado open your eyes
Aficionado all your eyes
I wonder, froth, everything wilts
Goodbye motherland
The winds blow through your blond hair
Wonders and goes
She, constantly stunning she sparkles
Speechless lovers
The wind blows what to say over us
We get drenched up to our necks
See how the greatest and highest aim
You've got the attitude on your 31st parallel south
Aficionado open your eyes
Aficionado all your eyes
I wash my hands of your "I know"s
I don't care about your "I told you"s and "I warned you"s
As big and as light as silver clouds
Tender beauty that marries
Bliss you kiss me and I melt
Aficionado open your eyes
Aficionado all your eyes

You shoot me down but I won't fall

Cut me down
But it's you who'll have further to fall
Ghost town and haunted love
Raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones

I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away

Alizée - Moi... Lolita (2000)
Q: What have Alizée Jacotey, known as Alizée, and Napoleon Bonaparte in common?
A: Both were born on Corsica.
Alizée was discovered by Mylène Farmer, following her winning performance in the talent show 'Graines de Star' in 1999. While collaborating with Mylène Farmer and Laurent Boutonnat, Alizée released four studio albums - first two of which were composed by Laurent Boutonnat and written by Mylène Farmer. Her first album received Platinum within three months of release. It was a success both in France and abroad, earning Alizée the distinction of being the highest selling female French singer in 2001.
The album featured her most successful single 'Moi... Lolita', which reached number one in several countries in Europe and East Asia.
Alizée married fellow French singer Jérémy Chatelain in late 2003. Her latest album, entitled 'Une Enfant Du Siècle' was released in March 2010 and showcases her new mature persona, while distancing herself from her earlier Lolita figure.

Moi je m'appelle Lolita
Quand je rêve aux loups
C'est Lola qui saigne
Quand fourche ma langue,
j'ai là un fou rire aussi fou
Qu'un phénomène Je m'appelle Lolita
Lo de vie, lo aux amours diluviennes
Moi je m'appelle Lolita
Collégienne aux bas
Bleus de méthylène
Moi je m'appelle Lolita
Coléreuse et pas
Mi-coton, mi-laine
Motus et bouche qui n'dis pas
À maman que je suis un phénomène
Je m'appelle Lolita
Lo de vie, lo aux amours diluviennes
Repeat Refrain
C'est pas ma faute
Et quand je donne ma langue aux chats
Je vois les autres
Tout prêts à se jeter sur moi
C'est pas ma faute à moi
Si j'entends tout autour de moi

English translation:
Me Lolita
Me, I'm called Lolita
Lo or just Lola
That's all the same
Me, I'm called Lolita
When I consider my mistakes
It's Lola who has to bleed
When I make a slip of the tongue, I have
An elated laugh also elated
As a phenomenon
I'm called Lolita
Lo for spirit, Lo for a diluvial love
Me, I'm called Lolita
Student below
Tight jeans
Me, I'm called Lolita
Quick-tempered and not
Half-cotton, half-wool
Silent and a mouth that doesn't tell
Mum that I
Am a phenomenon
I'm called Lolita
Lo for spirit, Lo for diluvial love
Repeat Refrain
It's not my mistake
And if I want to quit
I see the others
All ready to throw themselves upon me
It's not my own mistake
If I hear everything around me

Lyrics:
Oh yeah, yeah…
Open up your heart, what do you feel
Open up your heart, what do you feel… is real
The big bang may be a million years away
But I can’t think of a better time to say
World, hold on
Instead of messing with our future, open up inside
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky
World, hold on
Instead of messing with our future
Tell me no more lies
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky
Children of the sky…
Children of the sky…
Look inside, you’ll find a deeper love
The kind that only comes from high above
If you ever meet your inner child, don’t cry
Tell them everything is gonna be alright
World, hold on
Instead of messing with our future, open up inside
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky
World, hold on
Come one, everybody in the universe, come on
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky
Children of the sky… alright
Open up your heart
Tell me, how do you feel
Listen now, tell them everything, right here right now
Alright, everybody, here in the world
You are all the children, alright
Together now, unite, and fight… oooh
Open up you heart, no, peace, love for everyone
Oh, no no no no no, alright, to the four corners of the world
Sing it loud, sing it loud, sing it loud loud loud
world hold on on
sing it loud, sing it proud
everybody, yeah yeah yeah yeah, oooh
Don’t take no for an answer, no no, not today
Right here, spread love, everybody join together now
One [race], one heart, love and unity, everybody sing
yeah!
World, hold on
Come one, everybody in the universe, come on
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky
World, hold on
Come one, everybody in the universe, come on
World, hold on
Wonder you will have to answer to the children of the sky
Bob Sinclar - I Feel For You (2000)
'Peace, Love and House-Music' - this is how Christophe Le Friant, a.k.a. Bob Sinclar describes his inspiration. Born 10 May 1969, Bob is known for popularising the 'French touch' of house music with heavy use of sampled and filtered disco strings. To the mainstream he is most recognised for tracks like 'Love Generation' (2005) and 'World, Hold On' (2006) - but he has been around for a lot longer, releasing and remixing under various aliases. His first track as Bob Sinclar 'I Feel For You', dates back to the debut album Paradise.

Lyrics:
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.
Feel for you baby,
Feel for you baby,
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.
Feel for you baby,
Feel for you baby,
Feel for you..
The first time we met,
I saw the fire in your eyes,
You turned me away,
I could feel the pain in my heart.
It made me feel the same without you,
Now it's time to fly away,
Across the sky,
Close your eyes,
And feel the vibe.
Feel for you baby,
Feel for you baby,
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.
Feel for you baby,
Feel for you baby,
Feel for you..
Freeing your mind,
Freeing your soul,
Freeing your mind,
Freeing your soul.
Do you know how much I feel for you.
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.
Feel for you baby,
Feel for you baby,
I can feel it,
Can you feel it.

Aéroport, aérogare
Mais pour tout l'or m'en aller
C'est le blues, l' coup d' cafard
Le check out assuré
Vienne la nuit et sonne l'heure
Et moi je meurs
Entre apathie et pesanteur
Où je demeure
Changer d'optique, prendre l'exit
C'est l'osmose, on the road
De l'asphalte sous les pieds
Vienne la nuit, c'est le jet lag
Qui me décale
L.A.P.D. me donne un blâme
C'est pas le drame
Se faire un trip, s'offrir un streap
Sous le soleil en plein midi
Six a.m., j'suis offset
J'suis l'ice dans l'eau, j'suis mélo, dis
Mon amour, mon Wesson
Mon artifice
La chaleur du canon
C'est comme une symphonie
C'est sexy le ciel de Californie
Sous ma peau j'ai L.A. en overdose
So sexy le spleen d'un road movie
Dans l'rétro ma vie qui s'anamorphose

Change of mind, take the exit
And send me to America
Sex appeal is Sunset
Marlboro is smiling at me
My love, my me, I Know that it exists
The heat of abandonment
It's like a symphony
It's sexy the sky of California
Under my skin I have L.A. in overdose
So sexy the spleen of a road movie
In the mirror my life which is "anamorphosis"
I have no more I.D., but the idea
To pay me the freeway
It osmosis, on the road
Asphalt under the feet
Hurry Sundown is the jet lag
Me shift

This is not the drama
Make a trip, afford a streap
Under the sun at high noon
Six a.m., I'm offset
I'm the ice in the water, I'm melodramatic, say
My love, my Wesson
My trick
The heat of the barrel
It's like a symphony
It's sexy sky of California
Under my skin in L.A. I overdose
So sexy the spleen of a road movie

J. Birkin & S. Gainsbourg - Je T'aime (1967/69)
'Je T'aime,...Moi Non Plus' is a - if not THE - classic French duet. It was written for and recorded with Serge Gainsbourg's then-girlfriend, Brigitte Bardot, in winter 1967. Brigitte asked him to write the most beautiful love song he could imagine and that night he wrote 'Je t'aime'. They recorded an arrangement by Michel Colombier at a Paris studio in a two-hour session in a small glass booth; the engineer William Flageollet said there was 'heavy petting' involved. But news of the recording reached the press and Brigitte's then-husband (yes, it appeared to be a very liberal interpretation of 'free love' back then), German businessman Gunter Sachs, was angry and called for the single to be withdrawn. Brigitte pleaded with Serge not to release it, and although he protested that 'The music is very pure. For the first time in my life, I write a love song and it's taken badly', he complied.
In 1968, Serge fell in love with English actress Jane Birkin on the set of their film 'Slogan'. After filming, he asked her to record the song with him. Jane had heard Brigitte's version and thought it hot. She said:' only sang it because I didn't want anybody else to sing it', jealous at the thought of his sharing a recording studio with someone else. Serge asked her to sing an octave higher than la B.B. It was recorded in an arrangement by Arthur Greenslade in a studio at Marble Arch. Jane said she 'got a bit carried away with the heavy breathing – so much so, in fact, that I was told to calm down, which meant that at one point I stopped breathing altogether. If you listen to the record now, you can still hear that little gap'.
There was media speculation, as with the Brigitte Bardot version, that they had recorded live sex, to which Serge told Jane: 'Thank goodness it wasn't, otherwise I hope it would have been a long-playing record'. The track was released in February 1969. The single had a plain cover, with the words 'Interdit aux moins de 21 ans' (forbidden to those under 21) - perhaps a predecessor of the modern-day 'Adult Guidance'. Brigitte Bardot regretted not releasing her version, and her friend Jean-Louis Remilleux persuaded her to contact Serge - they released it in 1986. The song has since been covered by many different artists, but obviously has never reached the original...

oh, oui je t'aime!

oh, mon amour...

je vais, je vais et je viens

entre tes reins*
et je me retiens
I love you, I love you
Oh, yes I love you!
No longer me
Oh, my love…
Like the undecided wave
I go, I go and I come
Between your back
I go and I come
Between your back
And I hold back.
je t'aime, je t'aime
oh, oui je t'aime!
moi non plus
oh mon amour...
tu es la vague, moi l'île nue
tu va, tu va et tu viens
entre mes reins
tu vas et tu viens
entre mes reins
et je te rejoins
I love you, I love you
Oh, yes I love you!
no longer me
Oh, my love…
You are the wave, I’m the naked island
You go, you go and you come
Between my back
You go and you come

Vanessa Paradis
Vanessa (Chantal) Paradis born two days before Christmas 1972. Her first TV appearance was on the show L'École des fans in 1981. She recorded her first single, 'La Magie des surprises-parties' in 1983 and performed it at an Italian festival in 1985 - but lost the first prize. Although the song was not a hit, it paved the way for the song with which she would become internationally famous: Her breakthrough came in 1987, aged 14. Her single 'Joe le Taxi' spent 11 weeks at the top of the French charts, and also proved an international success. It is a song about a taxi driver, Joe, who works in Paris. The song emphasizes the notion that Joe seems to know all of the French capital including the whereabouts of all the little bars, all of the Parisian streets, the Seine, and bridges. The song's lyrics suggest that Joe enjoys drinking rum, has a passion for Latin music and his saxophone, and dreams of going to the Amazon.
Vanessa recorded two albums in Paris before traveling to New York in 1992 to record her self-titled English-language debut, with one-time boyfriend Lenny Kravitz as producer. The album's "Be My Baby" was also a hit, but Vanessa's popularity waned a bit. She was involved in various film, TV and modeling engagementsm such as Chanel's Coco ad campaign. More film and modelling work followed throughout the next several years, largely replacing her music career for a time. In early 2000 she returned to the music scene with the French-released Bliss, followed by a live album, Au Zénith in 2001. After that, it was back to yet more film and modelling work (and quality time with the two-child family she built with actor Johnny Depp). Paradis returned to music once again in 2007 with the release of her fifth full-length album, Divinidylle.
