Ssion - Luvvbazaar (2011)

The Ssion, also known as SSION, (pronounced "shun") is a musical group formed in 1996, in Kansas City, by vocalist Cody Critcheloe. Known for their extravagant live show, Ssion was signed to Sleazetone Records in 2008. In 2003 Ssion made their label debut in 2003, releasing the EP “Minor Treat” and the album “Opportunity Bless My Soul” on Version City Records. In 2007 the group released their album “Fools Gold” accompanied with “Clown”, a remix EP. It was then followed by a full-length feature film, titled BOY made up of music videos strung together to produce the gay, punk rock equivalent of Forrest Gump

Bellatrax & Sophie May - I Can't Help Myself (2007)

DJ, songwriter & producer Chris Dececio created the Bellatrax project in the summer of 2006 after being asked to do a credible UK house remix of 'Whatever' by Ferry Corsten. The track was supported by many key DJs around Europe including Judge Jules who supported the track on his BBC Radio 1 show. Chris then decided to take Bellatrax to the next level and produce the first single 'I Can’t Help Myself'. The record became an international hit with support DJs and spent 3 consecutive weeks on No.1 of the US Dance Charts and was signed worldwide by Oxyd Italy, Nervous Records US, Spinnin Benelux, Blanco y Negro Spain and more. It was remixed by Laidback Luke, Sunfreakz and Henry John Morgan - but really, it's only the Jason Rooney Remix that cuts the mustard.

Now I know reality TV and talent search shows are this and that, and I am not the biggest fan of careers starting of from such shows, but this one is different:

Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar (DSDS), the German equivalant to Pop- and American Idol, has been running since 2002 on Europe's largest private TV broadcasting station RTL, and this year was no different. The show finished last night with Pietro Lombardi being the winner and Sarah Engels being the runner-up. Whilst Pietro won perhaps on popularity, Sarah Engels showed that there is huge singing talent in Germany. But it is the third through the finishing line that caught my attention for dedication, passion, talent and versatility:
Ardian Bujupi was born on 27 April 1991 in Kosovo. To escape the horrors of the Balkan War at the time, Ardian's family sought refuge in Germany and since the age of 1 lives in Heidelberg, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Having recently passed his A-Level, he decided to participate in this year's run of DSDS. Here are some of his stage performances, covering a wide repotoire ranging from current Bruno Mars' 'Grenade' to jazzy Michael Buble, from soulful James Brown to German Xavier Naidoo, the latter two of which gave me the serious goosebumps...
